Named recently, "An Exceptional Bay Area Yoga Teacher Under 30" in Common Ground Magazine, Debbie can inspire students through her joyful presence and enthusiastic voice. A dancer all her life, she has been variously a featured performer at the de Young Museum, San Francisco Green Festival After Party, Boston Children’s Museum, The Berklee Performance Center, Ashkenaz, and Chochmat Halev. Debbie teaches creative Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes and workshops at Bernal Yoga, Satori Yoga, International Orange, Ubuntu Napa, and Rudramandir. She recently began teaching teenage girls in Juvenile detention facilities through the Art of Yoga Project. In 2008, Debbie developed "African Rhythm Yoga," a unique practice incorporating the soulful spirit of traditional West African dance with Hatha Flow Yoga. With the accompaniment of live percussion from Rhythm Village Afro Fusion Ensemble, Debbie travels around the world teaching, inspiring, and building community through her passion for merging the innate joy of West African Dance with the transformational power of yoga. With a Degree in Audio/Radio from Emerson College and a background as a DJ at WERS-FM Boston, Debbie infuses her weekly yoga classes with her fervor for an eclectic range of music featuring African, Indian, Jazz, Folk, Reggae, Traditional Chanting, and Indie Rock. In her flow yoga classes, Debbie encourages students to connect with the “Rasa” or juice, flavor, and essence of their lives. She loves weaving together postures, breathing techniques, chanting, mudras, basic dance movements, music, yoga philosophy, poetry, and meditation to help her students feel more at peace in their minds and bodies. Debbie holds a 300+ hour certification in Holistic Flow Yoga from Master Teacher, Saul David Raye and the Ritam School for Healing Arts in Los Angeles, CA.
